February is American Heart Month! Take this time as an opportunity to build awareness about heart health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US. There are ways to reduce your risk and live a heart-healthy life. Physical activity and eating healthy like choosing lower sodium foods and reduced fat and saturated fat. Blood pressure does not have to manage you…you CAN manage your blood pressure!

The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County can help you learn more about managing your blood pressure with our “BP for Me”. We can help you learn about risk factors, setting your own goals and making a step by step plan to achieve them. The program will provide you with ways to make simple changes in diet and life style to help you manage your blood pressure and feel better! All classes are taught by registered and licensed dietitians and health educators. We offer this free program (both online and in person) to those who qualify.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Adults 18 years and older for both programs
  2. Copy of your most recent blood pressure
