The purpose of National Nutrition Month is to inform and help the public become more aware of the importance of good nutrition and choosing a healthful eating plan. This includes choosing foods that are nutrient dense and supportive of good health long-term.
This can be accomplished by learning how to read nutrition labels, utilizing MyPlate and reading the Dietary Guidelines.
National Nutrition Month has three main goals to help people manage their weight successfully and reduce their risk of chronic disease:
- Consume fewer calories
- Getting daily exercise
- Making informed food choices
