Most of us have heard of the numerous health benefits of eating your vegetables. In addition to their abundant fiber content, which is great for weight control and your GI health, they are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These work hard to keep away diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and stroke!
But trying to fit in your recommended servings of vegetables and fruit every day can be quite the challenge. Enter in “the spiralizer’, or spiral slicer. This handy, inexpensive kitchen tool can turn any round or semi-round veggie (or fruit) into fun noodle shapes. A Julienne slicer or vegetable peeler could also be used. And many grocery stores are now beginning to sell them already “spiralized” for your added convenience.

These new-look vegetables can then be cooked and used in place of pasta, or added to soups and other hot dishes. Or they can be added raw on top of any salad for a new and tasty twist.
